Mementos

The other day I was going through some bins in my closet and found an old t-shirt from a high school football camp that I went to.

As I was looking at it, I thought “do I really need this?” and thinking about just decluttering and possibly throwing things away, or giving them away, I was reminded of when my mom was alive, I asked her about a picture in her house of a baby. And she had always been there, faded picture in a little round frame, she said “that’s me when I was a baby” meaning her, she was saying it was her when she was a baby, and she said “I still have the dress that I was wearing in that picture”, and she went to a drawer and she pulled out this little tiny thing in tissue paper and held it up and it was the dress, of course, that she had been wearing as a baby in that picture.

It made me realize that some of the things that we have from the past like that, although it may just seem like old clothing, contains wonderful memories of awesome times in our lives. And to me those are worth saving.

baby, dress, football, high school, mementos, memories, mother, photos
