My mother was fond of telling me how much I loved Halloween when I was a little kid. I think I really enjoyed the creativity and the ability to use my imagination when coming up with a costume—you can be whoever you want.
In our adult lives, one powerful tool when we feel stuck in a problem we can’t figure out is adopting the point of view of someone else. It’s like using the same creativity we apply to Halloween to envision who else we might be. Think about how someone else might approach the problem we’re dealing with. It could be a superhero, a famous person, or even an object.
Looking at the problem from that different point of view can be incredibly helpful. While you might not literally get dressed up for Halloween, thinking creatively and imagining how someone else would solve the problem can help you get unstuck and come up with new solutions.
