Kaos vs. Control
February 4, 2026I was reading a business newsletter this morning, and it mentioned two companies that had partnered on a project. The subheading alluded to a saying: If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.
I had never heard that saying before, but reflecting on it made me think about how we navigate challenges in life. One of the most important things is knowing we’re not alone when facing difficulties. Reaching out and connecting with others—whether to realize we’re not the only ones feeling a certain way or to gain support and strength—is essential.
For me, both in business and in my personal life, having people to help weather the storms—and to celebrate the good times—makes all the difference.
This idea is just as crucial in leadership. The most effective leaders know that collaboration fuels long-term success. Here are three ways leaders can apply this mindset to be more efficient and effective:
- Build Strong Networks – Surround yourself with people who challenge and support you. Great leaders don’t succeed alone; they cultivate relationships with mentors, peers, and their teams.
- Encourage Teamwork – Foster a culture where collaboration is valued over individual competition. When teams work together, they create better solutions and drive sustainable success.
- Ask for Help When Needed – Leadership doesn’t mean having all the answers. Seeking input and support from others shows strength, not weakness, and can lead to better decision-making.
Success in leadership and life isn’t just about how fast you can move—it’s about how far you can go with the right people by your side.
